Siena Cathedral was not built on a hill, but on a gothic cathedral.
The hill was built because the cathedral was so hight. We are here almost at the roof
of the gothic cathedral, but under the whole renaissance cahedral. But that's not enough.
Under here is an even older church and under that an ancient pagan chappel.
